1. The Priest/Jesus, The Mourner, The Dead Man, and The Grave-Digger.
This is the most common, well-known clue. John represents either the Priest or Jesus. Ringo represents the mourner, sad about the death of a loved one. Paul, obviously, is the dead man. And lastly, George is the grave digger - sporting a not so fancy outfit.
2. Barefoot
Another common clue is the fact that Paul is barefoot - picking him out from the rest of the group. This is a clue basically screaming at the crowd - THIS MAN DOES NOT BELONG!
3. 28IF
Notice the white beetle (also pictured in Sgt. Pepper with the doll). This car is not only representing (once again) the car Paul was driving when he crashed, but look at the license plate. On it, it clearly says, "28IF". This means Paul would be 28 IF he was still alive.
4. Coffin Nail
Last, but not least, the "coffin nail". Back in their day cigarettes were often called coffin nails, so it seems appropriate Paul is holding one.
